What is a Prediction Market?

A prediction market is a platform where you can trade on the outcomes of real-world events. Instead of buying stocks or commodities, you buy "shares" that represent your prediction about whether something will happen. For example, you might trade on whether Bitcoin will reach $100,000 by the end of the year, or whether a certain team will win a championship. If your prediction is correct, you earn a profit. If not, you lose your investment. Prediction markets harness the "wisdom of the crowd" — the idea that collective predictions from many participants are often more accurate than individual forecasts.

Trade Predictions

Buy and sell shares based on your predictions about real-world events across politics, sports, finance, and more.

Collective Wisdom

Market prices reflect the collective beliefs of all participants, creating a powerful forecasting tool.

Real-Time Pricing

Prices update continuously based on supply and demand, reflecting the latest information and sentiment.

On-Chain Settlement

All trades are settled on-chain via smart contracts, ensuring transparency and trustless execution.

✅ Advantages

• Hedge against real-world outcomes • Earn from your knowledge and research • Transparent, on-chain settlement • No intermediaries or counterparty risk • Access markets not available in traditional finance • Trade 24/7 without restrictions

❌ Risks

• Can lose 100% of your investment on any position • Markets may have low liquidity • Regulatory uncertainty in many jurisdictions • Smart contract risk (bugs, exploits) • Oracle failures can affect settlements • High volatility — prices can swing rapidly

📌 Example

Imagine a market: "Will BTC reach $100K by Dec 2026?" • YES shares are trading at $0.65 (market thinks 65% chance) • You believe it will happen, so you buy 100 YES shares for $65 • If BTC reaches $100K: your shares are worth $100 → profit of $35 • If BTC doesn't: your shares are worth $0 → loss of $65 You can also sell your shares before the event resolves to lock in profit or cut losses.
